A large crowd attended the miscellaneous shower held at Robt. Brown's for Miss Stella Brown last Tuesday night. Besides most of Ice Lake folks quite a number from Gordon and Gore Bay attended. The house was so crowded that games could not be played. Messrs. Russel Hore, Grant Beange and James Dearing entertained with solos accompanied by the guitar. The recitations given by Mrs. Tom McMillan caused much amusement.
Russel Hore the groom of this week assisted his fiance in opening the gifts while stella did a good job at reading the accompanying verses. The gifts ranged from a linen tablecloth down to a doll about the size of one's thumb. To find the little things Stella had to work her way through myriads of wrappings and containers. One novol (sic) gift, accompanied by an appropriate verse, was a lady made up of a mixing spoon and dish mop for a head, dish cloth for a shawl, emery cloth for arms, dish towl (sic) for a skirt and an apron completing her costume.
The bride and groom thanked the folks for their thoughfulness (sic) and gifts. The evening's doings closed with a song and lunch.
