      Wedding
      Gibbs-Best
At the home of Mr. and Mrs. J.W. Best of Gordon, was the scene on Thursday, April 4th, of a pretty wedding when their daughter, Katherine Ardath, was united in marriage to Lyman Sylvester Gibbs, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Gibbs of Gore Bay. Rev. W.H. Bradford, pastor of the Gore Bay United Church performed the ceremony. The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, was lovely in her wedding gown of white georgette and tulle, her full length veil being caught with a coronet of orange blossoms. She carried in her arms a bouquet of roses, Easter lilies and orange blossoms. Miss Elsie Gibbs, sister of the groom, played the wedding march, (Lohengrin) as the bride entered thetastefully decorated room upon the arm of her father and took her place beside the groom beneath a beautiful arch of evergreens and flowers. Only the immediate friends of the contracting parties were present at the ceremony. After the signing of the register the guests repaired to the dining-room where a sumptuous wedding breakfast was spread, Mr. Harvey Gibbs, brother of the groom acting as master of ceremonies. A reception was held in the evening when the house was filled with guests from Gore Bay and Gordon. The bride, who is very popular was the recipient of many beautiful and useful presents among which was a cabinet of silver, the groom's present to the bride and a substantial cheque from the bride's parents. The groom's gift to the organist was a pretty gold bracelet. The happy couple will spend their honeymoon in Sault Ste.Marie enroute to Detroit, Mich, where they will reside in future. The Recorder joins in wishing the young couple a long and happy wedded life!
