      Mrs. Wm. Hall
On Thursday, June 22, the death occurred of Mrs. William Hall of Gordon township. One of the pioneer settlers of the Island she had seen it change from forest to its present state of cultivation. She was the daughter of Humphrey Griffith, a prominent Orangeman of Tecumseh County. She was born at Tottenham on May 30, 1848 and on June 8, 1872 married the late Mr. William Hall at Bondhead, Tecumseh. Thirty-four years ago Mr. and Mrs. Hall and family moved to the Manitoulin settling in the township of Gordon where as a result of hard work and industry they had obtained a very comfortable home.
There were seven children born of this marriage, Susan, now Mrs. Kendrick of Alberta; George and William of Gordon, Isobel, now Mrs. Benge (sic) of Ice Lake who are left to mourn their loss; and Mary Ann, Margaret and Charlotte predeceased their mother. There are eighteen grandchildren living.
