Roehampton Resident's Death
Interesting Career of Late Mr. G. M. Marshall
The funeral took place on the 4th day of July, of Mr. George Moris Marshall, of 129 Dover House-road, Roehampton, whose death, at the early age of 48, occurred at the National Hospital, Queen's-square, Bloomsbury, on the previous Saturday.
Mr. Marshall was ill only a short time, and underwent an operation. He leaves a widow and two young children.
He had a varied career full of unusual experiences, which commenced when he was 18 years of age. He went to America in 1900, and after two years in Colorado and California, worked his way passage home on the French vessel, "St. Ragotien," from San Franciso to Galway by way of Cape Horn. The voyage covered a period of five months. Joining the 1st Middlesex Regiment in 1903, he obtained a first class certificate of education the following year, and later a certificate of trade proficiency as draughtsman at the Military Workshop, Portsmouth. He went to India and there obtained the acting schoolmaster's certificate, qualifying him to teach in army schools. On his return to England in 1910 he came out on

By the end the Agony', as the Little Current train was irreverently known as, made its last run, a new bus service was available to the public. Mr. Abe Shamess had announced in May 1962 that he intended to initiate a new Little Current-McKerrow bus service.
A.J. Bus Line began running on June 18, 1962. At that time its Little Current depot was a small frame building at the rear of the Manitoulin Hotel, as the Anchor Inn was called at the time.
The bus made two trips daily connected with the CPR and Greyhound Bus Line. The bus schedule was published weekly in The Expositor as the CPR passenger schedule had been for decades. M r. A.J. Shamess announced in August that his service had been well received, but that he hoped to obtain some school bus contracts to supplement revenue.
A.J. Bus Line routes were extended in 1963 to include a once-a-day trip to Manitowaning after arrangements were made with Mrs. Vera Hembruff, who previously operated the franchise. The next year the route was extended to include a daily trip to Wikwemikong as well. At that time Greyhound Bus advertised a return trip to Vancouver from Espanola for just $70.

Mr. and Mrs. Edward Linley and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Linley have taken their departure to their future houses in the West. We join in wishing them success in their new abode. The ladies of St. Mary's church take this opportunity of expressing their regret that, through some misunderstanding, they did not know that Mrs. Linley intended to leave until the following week, as they were preparing to spend a sociable evening at her former home, and to contribute some slight token of their appreciation of her long standing services as choir leader.
